Frances Hough

Frances Hough, 94, of the Magnolia Community died Sunday, Dec. 22 at Holden Manor Care Center.

Funeral services were Dec. 26 at Williams Funeral Chapel in Holden with Pastor Mike Wakeman officiating. Interment followed in Pisgah Cemetery, north of Chilhowee.

The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Frances was born Sept. 16, 1919, in LaTour, Mo., the daughter of Leslie Weber McClain and Mary Elizabeth (Nichols) McClain. She graduated from LaTour High School and received her teacher’s certificate from Warrensburg Teacher’s College. She was united in marriage to Donald Hurley Hough on Feb. 5, 1944, in Mission, Kan. The couple resided in the LaTour area for several years prior to moving to the Magnolia Community in early 1948. Frances taught at several one-room school houses, including Pleasant Shade. She was a longtime member of Magnolia Baptist Church. She enjoyed crocheting, reading and being outdoors.

Survivors include her daughter, DeAnn Livingston and special friend, Greg Laughlin of Holden, Mo.; son, Mike Hough and wife, Deborah, of Holden; grandson, Russ Hough of Holden; granddaughter, Jamey Hough of Lee’’s Summit, Mo.; and two great grandchildren, Elizabeth Ann Sohl and Trey Don Michael Sohl.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Don; a sister, Irma Gudde, and brother, R. G. McClain.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Holden Manor Care Center or Pisgah Cemetery Association in care of the funeral home.
