Francis Alderson

Francis A. Alderson, 85, of Knob Noster, Missouri, died Monday, Feb. 15, at his home.

The family will receive friends Friday from 9:30 a.m. until service time at Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home in Warrensburg. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 19,at the funeral home with Reverend Jack Menges officiating. Interment will follow at Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville with full military honors by Whiteman Air Force Base Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be David, Alex, and Keith Alderson, Leigh Clayton, Isaac Hayslip and Caleb Egbert.

He was born Dec. 2, 1930, in Decatur, Illinois, the son of Marion and Mamie (Burrell) Alderson.

On Nov. 6, 1949, he and Anna Eleanor Delbridge were united in marriage in Decatur, Illinois. She preceded him in death on April 1, 2015.

Francis served in the U.S. Air Force for 28 years. He served during the Vietnam and Korean wars and was stationed in Guam and Thailand. He retired in November of 1977 as a master sergeant. After his service, he worked at the Knob Noster Post Office as a mail carrier for 10 years and later was a courier for US Bank in Warrensburg. He was a former Knob Noster city alderman and a member of the Sedalia Christian Center Faith Church.

He is survived by a daughter, Jamie White, of Knob Noster; a son, Kevin Alderson and wife, Rhonda, of Warrensburg; a son-in-law, Leigh Clayton, of Knob Noster; a brother, George Alderson and wife, Betty, of Alabama; and seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and one sister, Jeanette Hoffman.

Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and can be left in care of the funeral home.
