‘Fuel for Finals’ provides incentives to students

The University of Central Missouri President Charles Ambrose is adding a personal touch to helping students fuel up for finals with a special incentive for those who jumpstart their studies at the James C. Kirkpatrick Library.

The first 100 students who visit the library at 11 a.m. Sunday, May 5 will be treated to breakfast burritos, fresh fruit and tater tots served by Ambrose and Deborah Curtis, provost and chief learning officer.

The Sunday morning breakfast is part of a “Fuel for Finals” promotion calling attention to the library’s extended hours on special dates during the last two weeks of the semester. The library will open at 11 a.m. and close at 2 a.m. on Sunday, May 5 in addition to extended its hours from 7:30 a.m. to 2 a.m. April 29-May 1, the week prior to finals, and May 6-8 during finals week.

Students caught studying in the library between 9 p.m. and midnight on these dates also could receive free drinks from Einstein’s, which is also extending its hours at the library location. Campus offices are teaming up with the library and University Relations to sponsor Fuel for Finals coffee coupons, good for any drink until the end of finals. Representatives of each sponsoring office will be in the library at the time of their sponsorship to surprise students with free coupons, if they find them studying.

Fuel for Finals sponsors include the Office of Student Experience and Engagement; Alumni Relations and Development; Athletics; Career Services; College of Health, Science, and Technology; Department of Nutrition and Kinesiology; Elliott Union; Extended Campus and Distance Learning; Gateway Center; Greek Life; Office of Technology; Student Financial Assistance; Student Success Center; The Honors College; The Midwest Center for Charter Schools and Urban Education; UCM Foundation; University Health Center, and University Housing.
