Geraldine ‘Jerry’ Schildknecht

Geraldine “Jerry” Schildknecht, 85, of Warrensburg, Missouri, died on Wednesday, Feb. 14, at Western Missouri Medical Center.

A funeral service was held on Monday, Feb. 19, at 11 a.m. at Grover Park Baptist Church with the Reverend Dr. Randy Neal officiating. Burial followed the service in Warrensburg Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were Aaron Schildknecht, Ryan Schildknecht, Glen Wickham, Gary Clemens, Kenny Snyder, Jason Clemens and Brett Clemens. Honorary pallbearers were Greg Carrel and John Crouse.

The family received friends from 9 a.m. until service time Monday at the church.

Jerry was born on Jan. 20, 1933 in St. Joseph, Missouri, the daughter of Donald Saunders and Lena (Cook) Saunders.

On May 16, 1954, in Stewartsville, Missouri, she united in marriage to Robert Schildknecht. She obtained her Masters of Science in Education degree and was an elementary school teacher.

Jerry loved her family and the Lord, and her devotion to both were obvious. She was passionately involved with Campers on Missions, International Ministry and her Women Mission Union at church. She was an outstanding cook and made the world’s best peach cobbler and pecan pie. Jerry loved to sing and play the piano.

She was a member of Grover Park Baptist Church, and loved her church family and friends both in Sun City, Arizona, and at home. She was a retired educator and loved her profession. She taught third and fourth grades in the Lathrop, Knob Noster, Polo and Warrensburg school districts.

Jerry is survived by her husband, Robert “Bob” Schildknecht, of the home; son, Doug Schildknecht and his wife, Rita, of Warrensburg; daughter, Shelly Johnson-Wickham and her husband, Glen, of Ogden, Utah; grandchildren, Aaron Schildknecht and his wife Stephanie, of Warrensburg, Ryan Schil knecht and his wife Kristina, of Warrensburg, Christopher Johnson and wife Destinee, of Ogden, Utah, grandson, Patrick Johnson, of Ogden, Utah, granddaughter, Ashlynn Johnson, of Ogden, Utah; great grandchildren Alex Warlen, Jaxon Schildknecht, and Addyson Schildknecht, all of Warrensburg; sister, Mary Lou Snyder, of Gower, Missouri; sister, Donna Faye Carrell, of North Kansas City, Missouri; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Jerry was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Lena Saunders, and two brothers-in-law, Jim Snyder and Richard Carrel.

Contributions may be made to the Missouri Baptist Children’s Home and can be left in care of Sweeney Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home.
