Idus Glenn Daniel

Idus Glenn Daniel, 87, of Sunrise Beach, Missouri, formerly of Holden, Missouri, died Wednesday, Nov. 4, at Country Club Care Center in Warrensburg, Missouri.

Idus Glenn DanielGlenn was born April 3, 1928, in rural Henry County, Clinton, Missouri. He was the son of Idus Locke Daniel and Gladys Fern (Wisdom) Daniel. He was the oldest of their three sons, Wendell Eugene Daniel and Gail Leon Daniel.

Glenn grew up on the family farm between Holden and Centerview and graduated from Holden High School in 1946. He was a train engineer at Lake City Arsenal in Blue Springs from 1951 to 1985. He moved to Blue Springs in 1967 and upon retirement, moved to Sunrise Beach in 1985 where he enjoyed fishing and overlooking the Lake of the Ozarks from his dock until his health failed in 2014.

Glenn was a registered official in high school athletics and he officiated many baseball, basketball and football games in the Holden vicinity. While living in Holden, he was a member of First Baptist Church, past president of Holden Jaycees and Quarterback Club, and a member of the Elks Lodge in Laurie, Missouri. He was an avid sports fan, especially the Missouri Tigers and Kansas City Royals.

Glenn is survived by his brother, Wendell Daniel, and wife, Donna, of Ozark, Missouri; daughters, Denna Myers, of Holden; and Cindy Fuller and husband, George, of Englewood, Florida; grandchildren, Mike and Sherry Daniel, of Pleasant Hill, Missouri; and Scott Corwin, of Englewood; great-grandchildren, Coleman and Chance Daniel, of Pleasant Hill; Sarah and Stephen Corwin Jr., of Garden City, Missouri; Samantha and Elizabeth Corwin, of Punta Gorda, Florida; and three great-great-granddaughters, Aurora and Amelia Honeycutt and Vivian Peterson, all of Punta Gorda. In addition to his parents, Glenn was preceded in death by his brother, Gail Daniel; son, Michael Glenn Daniel; and grandson, Stephen Michael Corwin.

Funeral services were Saturday, Nov. 7, at Williams Funeral Chapel in Holden with the Rev. Creighton Cox officiating. Interment followed in the Holden Cemetery.
