James Eugene Cunningham

James Eugene Cunningham, 70, of Warrensburg, Missouri, died Monday, Nov. 13, at his home.

Jim was born July 16, 1947, in Marshall, Missouri, the son of James Luke Cunningham and Velma “Jean” (Moore) Cunningham. He attended Warrensburg High School. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. James was united in marriage to Rebecca L. Palmer on Jan. 21, 1972, in Warrensburg. He helped his uncle, Delmer Jaeger on a Mississippi riverboat for a couple of years. James was an over-the-road trucker for nearly 40 years. He was a member of the VFW, Post 4288 in Corder, Missouri.

Survivors include his brother, John Jaeger of Zapata, Texas; sister-in-law, Myra White and husband, Graydon, of Warrensburg; three nieces, Annesta Griffin, Toni Webb and Brandy Key; five great-nieces and nephews, Jennifer, Courtney, Avery, Kaden and Ruger; great-grandniece, Jaya and his two dogs, Lily and Snowflake.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Rebecca; both parents; stepfather, Wayne Wendell Jaeger; sister, Gladys Brown; brother, Ronnie Lee Jaeger; stepson, Michael Cunningham; two brothers-in-law, Gary Wheeler and Jennings Palmer Jr.; and his dog, Diesel.

Memorial services were Friday, Nov. 17, at Williams Funeral Chapel in Warrensburg with Pastor Harry Stevens of Victory Tabernacle Pentecostal Church in Warrensburg officiating.

Military honors were provided by Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 2513; American Legion, Post 131; and the United States Army Honor Guard.

There will be a private interment at the Knob Noster Cemetery.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Johnson County Cancer Foundation in care of the funeral home.
