Janice Irene Smith, 86 of Warrensburg, Missouri died Friday, May 25 at The Arbors at Glendale Gardens in Cinton, Missouri,
Funeral Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, May 31 at Williams Funeral Chapel in Warrensburg with Rev. Hubert Neth officiating. Interment will follow at Pisgah Cemetery, north of Chilhowee. Pallbearers will be Douglas Smith, Nick Smith, Jake Smith, Greg Smith, Hunter Smith and Payton Smith.
The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Janice was born Sept. 6, 1931 at New Franklin, Missouri daughter of Frank and Arlie (Quinley) Hendrix. She was a graduating member of New Franklin High School, Class of 49. She was united in marriage to Frank Lee Smith on July 11, 1950 in Harrison, Arkansas.
The couple followed the pipeline for several years, eventually settling in Kansas City, Missouri. They moved to Warrensburg in 1959. Janice was an avid dancer. She also greatly enjoyed taking care of her country home and raising cows and horses.
Survivors include two sons: Dennis Smith of Independence, Missouri, and Mike (Laura) Smith of Warrensburg; four sisters: Betty Jo Elder of New Franklin, Missouri; Fay Kempf of Boonville, Missouri; Carol Andrews of Newport News, Virginia, and Kathryn Andrews of New Franklin, Missouri; two brothers: Lloyd (Geneva) Hendrix of New Franklin, and Bill (Alice) Hendrix of New Franklin; six grandchildren: Doug Smith of Warrensburg; Nick (Rena) Smith of Warrensburg; Jacob (Kim) Smith of Warrensburg; Erin Smith of Independence, Missouri; Addie Smith of Independence, and Christine Sutherland of Weatherford, Texas; seven great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and her best friend and dance partner, Leland Marsh of Warrensburg. Janice was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; sister, Zelda Canole and brother, Jesse Hendrix.
Memorial Contributions are suggested to the Warrensburg Senior Center in care of the funeral home.
