(INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.) — The Central Missouri Jennies are the No. 4 seed in the Central Region after receiving an at-large bid to the 2012 NCAA Division II Volleyball Tournament, the NCAA announced Sunday night.
The Jennies recorded a 26-6 record during the season, making an appearance in the MIAA Tournament championship match.
The Jennies will face fifth-seeded Minnesota-Duluth. The Bulldogs were ranked fifth in the latest AVCA Division II Coaches Poll, and reached the Northern Sun semifinals before falling to eventual champions Southwest Minnesota State.
Concordia-St. Paul, the five-time defending national champions, earned the No. 1 seed in the region, and will host the tourney in St. Paul, Minn.
Three other MIAA teams also made the tournament. MIAA regular-season and tournament champion Nebraska-Kearney earned the No. 3 seed and will face No. 6 Washburn in the first round. Truman also earned a berth, claiming the No. 7 seed, and will take on No. 2 Southwest Minnesota State to open its postseason run.
The Jennies 2012 NCAA Tournament appearance will be the 30th in program history. Central Missouri has reached the regional tourney every season since 1983, missing only the inaugural 1982 tournament.
Jennies volleyball games will be broadcast by 1450 KOKO and warrensburgradio.com during the Central Regional tournament, which begins Thursday, Nov. 29. Game times and ticket information will be released later this week by the NCAA and will be found at ucmathletics.com.
