Kathryn M. Elliott, 81, of Warrensburg, died Saturday, Feb. 27, at Country Club Care Center.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until service time Tuesday, March 1, at Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with Pastor Jerry Basye officiating. Interment will follow at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, Missouri. Pallbearers will be grandchildren.
She was born April 10, 1934 in Nevada, Missouri, the daughter of Doyle R. and Corine (Harris) Matthews.
On April 1, 1959, in Tupelo, MS, she and Billy D. Elliott were married. He preceded her in death on March 14, 2011.
Kathryn graduated from Windsor High School in 1953. She received her Bachelor of Science in English Education in 1977 from Central Missouri State University. She was a librarian at the Green Ridge School District from 1977 to 1978 where she semi-retired. She volunteered at Western Missouri Medical Center and the Warrensburg Food Pantry. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Warrensburg.
She is survived by two sons, Jim Elliott and wife, Kara, of Warrensburg, and Jeff Elliott and wife, Lisa, of Holts Summit, Missouri; five grandchildren, Mattie, Zac, and Max Elliott, of Warrensburg, Justin Elliott and wife, Taylor, of Fort Stewart, Georgia, and granddaughter, Sam Elliott, serving in the United States Army at Fort Carson, Colorado; two great-grandchildren, Jennings and Monroe Elliott, of Fort Stewart, Georgia.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the First Christian Church Building Fund and can be left in care of the funeral home.
