Leland Ellsworth Fox, 90, died Wednesday, May 25, at Warrensburg Manor Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 31, at Grover Park Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Randall Neal officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Kelly Elsea, Noah Cooper, Adam Fox, Zach Newman, Isaac Keeler and Damon Lutjen Sr. Honorary pallbearers will be Calvin Harms, Delbert Bodenhamer, Ralph Elsea, John Harrington and Larry Yung. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday, May 30, at Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home.

Leland was born Sept. 5, 1925, near Warrensburg, Missouri, the son of William and Bertha (Butcher) Fox.

He married Dorothy Ann Griffey on July 5, 1947, in Warrensburg. They lived 68 years together in Warrensburg.

Leland worked for Werlings Grocery, Callaway Truck & Tractor, Saunders Truck & Tractor, and Tom Ogden Ford. Leland and Dorothy owned Dick & Jane Shop where his appliance business, Fox Appliance & Repair, began. With Dorothy at his side, Leland ran the business for 51 years until his retirement at the age of 85. All three of his children were involved in the business.

Leland loved to talk about his family history, go to Branson to see shows, read his Bible, and play dominoes.

Leland is survived by his wife, Dorothy; his daughter, Cheryl Elsea, and husband, Ralph, of Cole Camp; his sons, Steven Fox and wife, Monica; and Michael Fox and wife, Karen, of Warrensburg; two brothers, Owen Fox and wife, Vera, of Sedalia; and John Blin Fox and wife, Sandy, of Salina, Kansas; a sister, Maxine Westerholder, and husband, Donald, of Odessa; his grandchildren, Shelley Lutjen and husband, Damon; Kelly Elsea and wife, Barbie; Teresa Keeler and husband, Isaac; Adam Fox and wife, Jennifer; Justine Newman and husband, Zachary; and Kendra Fox; and his great-grandchildren, Allison, Noah, Damon, Tony, Madison, Phoebe, Levi, Benjamin, Avrie, Tyler, Pierce and Baby Newman on the way.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son in infancy, Randall Allen Fox, on Aug. 16, 1956, and a sister, Joyce Carpenter.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Grover Park Baptist Church Building Fund and can be left in care of the funeral home.
