Lloyd Douglas “Doug” Graham, age 74, of Knob Noster, Missouri, died at his residence on Tuesday, April 3.
A funeral service was held Friday, April 6, at 2 p.m. at Sweeney-Phillips Holdren Funeral Home with the Rev. Joel Kurz officiating. Pallbearers will be Nick Gruchala, Audrey Archuleta, Troy Claunch, Don York, and Doug Siegel. Interment with military honors will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery.
Family received friends from 1:30 p.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home.
Doug was born on August 21, 1943, in New York, the son of Howard Lloyd Graham and Phrocine (Barrett) Graham. He graduated from Pleasant Garden High School in North Carolina in the class of 1962. He was briefly a pharmacy intern before enlisting in the United States Air Force.
He retired as Master Sergeant after nearly 25 years of service. On February 1, 1975, he married Verla Sue Parker in Warrensburg. She preceded him in death one month prior to his passing.
Doug was a Lutheran by faith and loved listening to joyful gospel music. He also enjoyed farming and spending time outdoors, and was a big Mizzou and Nascar fan.
Doug is survived by his son, Brian Graham and wife, Dawn, of Greensboro, North Carolina; stepchildren, Marilynn Archuleta of Stover, Missouri, Carolyn Uhler of Holden, Missouri, Sam Uhler and wife, Maria, of San Antonio, Texas, and Jeff Uhler and wife, Tammy, of Bangor, Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Landon Uhler, Jose Lucero, Amanda Corr and husband, Brandon, Olivia Uhler, Annalisa Johnson, Anita Allen and husband, Casey, and Audrey Archuleta; sister, Betty York and husband, Don, of Julian, North Carolina; nephews, Curtis York and Kevin York; adopted aunt, Dorothy Martin of Greensboro, North Carolina; special caregiver and friend, Jacquetta Siegel and husband, Doug, of Warrensburg, Missouri, and their children, Chandra Gamblin,Kenneth Gamblin, and Jaylena Vickers; and former caregiver, Phyllis Phillips.
Doug was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Verla Sue Graham; and his parents, Howard and Phrocine Graham.
Contributions may be made to Crossroads Hospice or the MO Department of Conservation in his memory, and can be left in care of the funeral home.
