Lorena Louisa McKeown, 96, of Holden, Missouri, died Oct. 7, at Holden Manor Care Center.
Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Oct. 11, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Holden with Fr. Curt Vogel officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Holden. Pallbearers will be Ron McKeown, Jr.; Brian McKeown, Philip Wilson, Coy Cates, Bart McKeown, Ben Brockhaus and Michael Wilson.
Rosary Service will be 6 p.m. Oct. 10, immediately followed by visitation until 8 p.m. at Williams Funeral Chapel in Holden.
Lorena was born Nov. 12, 1921 in Bagnell, Missouri, daughter of Theodore and Delphia (Patterson) Brandt. She was united in marriage to Forrest LeRoy McKeown on Aug. 9, 1939 in Dixon, Missouri.
The couple moved to Holden in 1950. She worked at Raker & Craig Dry Goods in Holden. Upon the untimely death of her husband Forrest, she went to work at Lake City Ammunition. Lorena was employed at Remnant Shop/Dress Racque. Later she managed Lorena’s Gift Shop. More recently, she worked for AF Super/Lloyd’s Grocery. She was a longtime member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Holden. She was the head of the food committee for many years. Lorena enjoyed quilting, sewing and crocheting.
Survivors include daughter, Patty (David) Raker of Holden; two sons, Ron (Cheryl) McKeown of Belton, Missouri, and Rick (Sharon) McKeown of Kearney, Missouri; 16 grandchildren, Philip Wilson, Ruth (Wilson) Brockhaus, Jenny (Wilson) Whitehead, Becky McKeown, Brian McKeown, Ron McKeown, Jr. Kathy (McKeown) Barnes, Brenda (McKeown) Mackender, Crissy (McKeown) Bohannon, Susan (McKeown) Anstine, Bart McKeown, Amy (McKeown) Taylor, Jill McKeown, Sara (McKeown) Ullman, Ann (Raker) Cates and Amanda Raker; 37 great grandchildren, 20 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband Forrest, she was preceded in death by two sons, James McKeown in infancy and Roger McKeown; daughter, Marilyn Wilson; sister, Mary Kester; six brothers, Fred, Victor, Vernon, Ernest, Franklin and Herman Brandt; son-in-law, Don Wilson; three daughter-in-laws, Gayle, Andrea and Mary McKeown; and two grandsons, Michael and Jeff Wilson.
Memorial Contributions are suggested to Mt. Calvary Cemetery Association or Holden Manor Activities Fund in care of the funeral home.
