Lorene Ella Carleton, 90, of Warrensburg, Missouri, died on Thursday, Oct. 12, at Ridge Crest Nursing Center.
Funeral services were Monday, Oct. 16, at the First United Methodist Church of Warrensburg, with the Rev. Louie Lowe and Pastor Jackson Short officiating. Interment followed in Sunset Hills Cemetery. Pallbearers were Melanie Sanders, Raginn Fusaro, Bryce Carleton, Chris Carleton, Kelly Marrs, Ryan Monroe, and Lucas Monroe.
She was born on July 21, 1927, in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of Harry S. Naugel and Gladys Mae (Patterson) Naugel. She graduated from Smith-Cotton High School of Sedalia in the class of 1945. On June 18, 1950, she was united in marriage to William A. “Bill” Carleton. Lorene enjoyed playing bridge and caring for flowers and houseplants. She liked to listen to music, and was an avid reader. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Warrensburg, the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, and she volunteered at the Western Missouri Medical Center Gift Shop. Lorene is survived by her sons Richard (Ronda) Carleton, of Warrensburg, and Ronald (Kelly) Carleton, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, and daughter, Toni (David) Peerbolte, of Warrensburg; grandchildren Melanie (Garrett) Sanders, Raginn (Phil) Fusaro, Bryce (Whitney) Carleton, Chris (Joanna) Carleton, Kelly (Jared) Marrs, Ryan (Becca) Monroe, and Lucas (Kayla) Monroe; 10 great-grandchildren and many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; daughter; Trudy Carleton; great-grandson, Jackson Carleton; parents, Harry Naugel and Gladys Exline; and siblings, Harry S. Naugel Jr., Deloris Salmon, and Donna Dowdy.
The family received friends Monday at the church. Memorial contributions are suggested to First United Methodist Church Building Fund or the Warrensburg Senior Center and can be left in care of the funeral home.
