Louise M. Schlichter, 97, of Odessa, Missouri, formerly of Warrensburg, died Sunday, Feb. 25, at New Haven Living Center in Odessa. Funeral services scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, March 1, at Williams Funeral Chapel in Warrensburg with Rev. Sid Tiller of Northside Christian Church officiating. Interment followed at Sunset Hill Cemetery in Warrensburg. The family received friends from 1 p.m. until service time, Thursday at the funeral home.
Louise was born May 4, 1920, in Columbus, Missouri, the son of Ralph R. and Bonnie (Smith) Mapes. She was married to George Brown in June of 1946 in Warrensburg.
George preceded her on Sept. 12, 1962. She married A. J. “Bud” Schlichter in 1965 in Warrensburg. Bud preceded her in death in Feb. of 2007. Louise moved to Odessa in 2014 to be nearer her son and daughter-in-law, Ronnie and Margaret Brown.
She was a member of V.F.W. Auxiliary in Knob Noster, Lady Elks in Warrensburg and she volunteered at the Warrensburg Senior Center for several years. Louise enjoyed sewing, quilting and cooking. She was a member of Northside Christian Church in Warrensburg.
Survivors include three sons: Gary Brown and wife, Betty, of Louisburg, Kansas; Ronnie Brown and wife, Margaret, of Odessa; and Billy Brown and wife, Ann, of Jefferson City, Missouri; and seven grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. In addition to her two husbands, Louise was preceded in death by her brother, Roy Mapes.
