Mable Stevens, 98, of Warrensburg, died Thursday, April 14, in Warrensburg.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until service time Friday, April 22, at First United Methodist Church in Warrensburg. Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday at the church with the Reverend Morris Collins officiating. Interment will follow in Warrensburg Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Joseph and Ralph Collins, Jamal and Bryan Stevens, Phillip and Anthony Butler, Josh Bess and Cornelius Ashworth. Honorary pallbearers will be Chester Harrison, Spencer Taylor and Harold Morgan.
Mable was born March 12, 1918, in Montserrat, Missouri, the daughter of Bert and Veora (Visor) Goodwin.
Mable attended school in Montserrat and was a member of Victory Tabernacle Pentecostal Church.
In August of 1936, in Montserrat, she and John Stevens were united in marriage. He preceded her in death April 22, 2004.
Mable is survived by four sons, Larry Stevens and wife, Verdia, Gary Stevens and wife, Merita, John Stevens, all of Warrensburg, and Harry Stevens and wife, Clara, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; two daughters, Rosetta Mayfield of Warrensburg, and Ada Jackson and husband, Johnel, of Prince George, Virginia; 19 grandchildren, and a host of great and great great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Edward; an infant son; a brother, Junious Goodwin; and three sisters, Cyrna Lee, Alberta Hyter and Beulah Mae Goodwin.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Victory Tabernacle Pentecostal Church and can be left in care of Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home.
