Margaret R. Patrick, 89, of Warrensburg, died Tuesday, Feb. 25, at Country Club Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 1, at Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home in Warrensburg with the Rev. David Jordan officiating. Pallbearers will be Steve Patrick, Gary Patrick, Ronnie Olvis, Pat Brown, Richard Brant and Shawn Brant.

Interment will follow at Knob Noster Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.

She was born June 22, 1924, in Knob Noster, Mo., the daughter of Lee and Bessie (Wampler) Olvis.

She was united in marriage to Joseph P. Patrick on July 31, 1943, who was stationed in Texas in the U.S. Army. He preceded her in death on June 25, 2011.

Margaret joined the First Christian Church of Knob Noster in 1941. She was a graduate of Knob Noster High School class of 1942. Margaret started working in Kansas City, Mo., for the Quartermaster Depot. When her husband went overseas, Margaret came back to live with her parents. She worked for 10 years as Bookkeeper for the Good News Feed Store in Knob Noster. In 1957, Margaret began working as collector for Missouri Public Service and was appointed city collector by former Mayor Louis Lay in 1960. Her work career also involved collecting for other businesses, including Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, Gas Service Company, and Ozark Water Company. As a city employee, Margaret also assisted with the police dispatching as needed. Margaret and her husband, Joe, built a home just outside of Knob Noster in 1972 and since the city collector had changed to an elective position, she was no longer eligible to be collector for the city, but continued working for Ozark Water Company, Southwestern Bell, and Missouri Public Service Company.

Margaret is survived by one son, Larry Patrick, and wife, Linda, of Laurie, Mo.; two grandchildren, Tawna and Craig Patrick, both of Columbia, Mo.; three great-grandchildren, Derrick, Ashley, and Nicole Fisher.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Anna Ruth Olvis and Helen Anderson; and one brother, William Lee “Bud” Olvis.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association and both can be left in care of Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home in Warrensburg.
