Maurice Vincent Connell

Maurice Vincent Connell, 90 of Kingsville, Missouri, died Monday, Feb. 5, at St. Luke’s East Hospital in Lee’s Summit, Missouri.

Funeral Mass was 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 12 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Holden with Father Curt Vogel officiating. Interment followed at Mt. Olivet Cemetery at Kingsville with Military Honors provided by Veterans of Foreign Wars, Memorial Post 5844; Munday-Hancock Post, 90 American Legion and Unites States Army Honor Guard.

Pallbearers were be Richie Harbison, Adam Lewis, Christopher Connell, Michael Connell, Devin Freed and Curtis Christopher.

There will be a Rosary Service. led by Father Joe Bathke 5:30 p.m. Sunday, immediately followed by visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. at Williams Funeral Chapel in Holden

Maurice was born Oct. 21, 1927 in Kingsville, Missouri, the son of Maurice Michael Connell and Nelly Theresa (Reidy) Connell. He graduated from Kingsville High School and attended Rockhurst College in Kansas City, Missouri. He served in the United States Army during WWII. Maurice was united in marriage to Edna Lauramere Ferris on Aug. 30, 1952 in Holden. He farmed for the majority of his life, and he was also a rural mail carrier for Kingsville for 33 years. Maurice was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Holden.

Survivors include five daughters: Nelly Payne and husband, Don of Auxvasse, Missouri; Cathleen Locascio and husband, Charles of Holden, Missouri; Mary Sisk and husband, Virgil “Jr.” of Holden, Missouri; Sheila Christopher and husband, Tom of Holden and Michele Dinges and husband, Pat of Kingsville; two sons: George Connell of Kingsville and John Connell and wife JoAnn of Middletown, Virgiana; 24 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Edna; son: Daniel Joseph Connell; daughter: Theresa Connell; two brothers: Ralph Connell and Edward Connell; two sisters: Mary Faherty and Margaret Kane; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial Contributions are suggested to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church Building Fund.
