Millie Mae (Dourty) Siegismund

Millie Mae (Dourty) Siegismund died Sunday, Nov. 24 at Laverna Nursing Home surrounded by her family after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 29 at the Ben Cast & Son-Wood Funeral Home in Holden, Mo. Visitation will be at 1 p.m. under the direction of the funeral home.

Millie was born May 7, 1923, to Clarence (Nay) and Audrey Lillian (Rush) Hathaway in Fristoe, Mo. She married Raymond E. Dourty on Feb. 10, 1942, in Liberty, Mo. They lived in Independence, Mo., until moving to Holden in 1953 with their two children. Ray died in 1985. Millie married Clyde Siegismund in 1993, living in Humansville for 13 years, and then moved back to Holden in 2006. Millie lived the last five years in Savannah, Mo., to be close to her son and family.

Millie was a farm wife, she worked at Unitog in Warrensburg and later assisted her husband, Ray, and son, Chuck, in their family business, the Holden Body Shop. She also cared for her only grandson, Brian Ray Dourty, who was born on her birthday. She held many jobs in food service but retired from the Stahl’s Foundry Kitchen in Kingsville. She was known for her homemade pies and cinnamon rolls.

Millie will best be remembered for her great smile, her humor and her caring, loving ways. Even in her final days she kept everyone entertained with her quick wit and feistiness. Millie loved to fish, she always had a big vegetable and flower garden, loved to be outdoors and, most of all, cherished time with her family. Mille never knew a stranger and will be missed by all who knew her. She leaves behind her dog, Lily, who has been her dearest companion.

She is survived by her daughter, Patricia (Bob) Hicks, of Belton; son, Chuck (Peggy) Dourty, of Savannah; and sister, Nadine Scarborough, of Climax Springs, Mo. Grandchildren are Sara Bronson Collins of Independence; Brian (Jill) Dourty of Columbia, Mo.; and Charlene Dourty Payne (Austin) of Phenix City, Ala. Great grandchildren are Chelsea Elizabeth Collins, Alexis Nicole Collins, Gavin Ray Dourty and Austin Bradley Dourty.

Millie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ray Dourty; sister, Sedellah Mattox; brother, George Hathaway; infant grandson, Bradley Joseph Dourty; and infant twin great granddaughters, Cecelia and Marie Dourty.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to Laverna Nursing Home for a memorial bench in Millie’s honor.
