Mules football will finish their spring practice schedule with the annual spring game Saturday. The action is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. April 21 at Walton Stadium/Kennedy Field.
The game will be broken down into four sessions in which both the first and second team will see play. Each session will be followed by an intermission where contests between players will be held.
Each session will begin with the ball at a different spot on the field with no kickoffs or punts involved.
Point distribution will be handled differently than in normal games with points being awarded for gains in yards on offense or takeaways on defense along with the conventional scoring system.
The full scoring system is:
Offense
Touchdown – 6 points
Field Goal – 3 points
Two-point conversion – 2 points
Play of more than 15 yards – 2 points
Defense
Takeaway – 6 points
Three and out – 3 points
Loss of 3 or more yards – 2 points
Prevent two-point conversion – 2 points
The Mules start the 2018 season on the road at defending MIAA champions Fort Hays State Thursday, Aug. 30. Their first home game will be the next week, Thursday, Sept. 6 against Northeastern State.
