Nina Lou Simmons

Nina Lou Simmons, 79, of Centerview, Missouri, died Sunday, Nov. 29, at her home.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 2, at Williams Funeral Chapel in Warrensburg with Pastor Liz Beisinger officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Hill Cemetery in Warrensburg. Pallbearers will be Jake Allgood, Clifford Yearout, Terry Bell, Jerry Wallace, Tim Taylor, Robbie Bruns, Greg Whitehead and Jerry Simpson.

Nina was born Sept. 14, 1936, in Centerville, Iowa, the daughter of Charles E. Kennedy and Ada E. (Jared) Kennedy. She was raised in Kansas City and graduated from Wyandotte High School. She moved to St. Louis where she did some modeling for a time. Nina and her family resided at several locations prior to moving to her farm near Centerview in 1969. She was active in Boy Scouts in years past. She loved horses and watching the Kentucky Derby. She also enjoyed watching the Iditarod, riding in hot air balloons, fishing and especially camping with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her son, Scott Simmons, and wife, Audrey, of Centerview; daughter, Karen Allgood and husband, Russell, of Holden, Missouri; daughter-in-law, Karen Simmons, of Centerview; brother, Don Kennedy, and wife, Beverly, of Tonganoxie, Kansas; four grandchildren, Jake Allgood, and wife, Lea, of Holden; Diana Yearout and husband, Clifford, of Lincoln, Missouri; Lacey Bachman and husband, Jared, of Warrensburg, Missouri; and Samantha Simmons, of Centerview; one stepgrandson, Curt Harold, and wife, April, of Centerview; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, John Simmons; and two stepgrandchildren, Angie Tate and Judd Flanders.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Salvation Army.
