Ormand Gene Harrison

Ormand Gene Harrison, 85, of Warrensburg died Nov. 11 at Western Missouri Medical Center.

Memorial services were at 11 a.m. Nov. 17 at Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home. The family received friends from 10 a.m. until service time. A graveside committal with full military honors will be held at 10 a.m. on Nov. 19, at Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville.

Ormand was born March 30, 1933 in Clinton, Missouri, the son of Ormand and Maxine Harrison.

On March 30, 2010 he and Ruth Houston were united in marriage in Warrensburg. Ormand was a very proud veteran, and honorably retired from the United States Navy after 24 years of service. He also retired from Mack Trucks of Fremont, California and from UCM, where he was responsible for the maintenance at the student center.

Ormand was a football fan, and the Kansas City Chiefs were β€œhis team.” He enjoyed spending time being with family and friends. Ormand was a fisherman, and also loved reading and watching old movies.

Ormand is survived by his wife Ruth of the home; his children, Michael Harrison of Warsaw, Missouri, Cindy (Harrison) Magee and her husband Steve of Bay Point, California, and Gene Kevin Harrison of Eddy, Texas; and four step-sons, Darell Richey and his wife Joyce of Leeton, Missouri, Ronnie Richey and his wife Peggy of Leeton, Gary Richey and his wife Diane of Windsor, Missouri, and Dennis Richey and his wife Vicky of Warrensburg. He is also survived by a brother Bill Harrison of Clinton, many grandchildren and great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his first wife of 48 years, Joan Barbara (Schirl) Harrison; his parents and two brothers, Bob Harrison and Michael Harrison.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Missouri Veterans Home in Warrensburg and can be left in care of the funeral home.
