Patsy Sue Summitt, 68, of Warrensburg, Missouri, died Sunday, Dec. 6, at her home surrounded by her family.
Family visitation will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12, with home-going celebration services at 2 p.m. at Williams Funeral Chapel in Warrensburg. Interment will follow in Warrensburg Memorial Gardens.
Patsy Sue (Daugherty) Summitt was born in Johnson County, Missouri, on May 14, 1947, to the late Marion Daugherty and Ethel (Iseminger) Daugherty.
Famous for her ease of spirit and gentle conversation, Patsy won the hearts of many with her contagious smile and sweet demeanor. It was those same qualities (along with her freckles) that won the heart of Calvin (Frank) Summitt, the love of her life for over 48 years, who survives her in their home. Her daughter, Marie (Paul) Duryee; and son, Matthew (Shanna) Summitt, both of Warrensburg; as well as her mother, Ethel Daugherty; sisters Cathy (John) Gonzagowski and Ima (Jim) Truex; five grandchildren and 28 nieces and nephews, continue to carry her light.
Patsy graduated from College High in 1965 and began working in the meat department at BiLo in Warrensburg. Over the years she mastered her craft as a member of UFCW Local 576 and carried her talents to BiLo, IGA and Consumers grocers. In 1992, she left the work of her hands and continued the work of her heart in being the devoted wife and selfless mother of the home as well as working tirelessly through church organizations.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Johnson County Cancer Foundation.
