R.G. “Rusty” Enzor Jr., 84, of Warrensburg, Missouri, died Sunday, June 5, at Western Missouri Medical Center.

Memorial services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, June 9, at Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home with Brother Charles Brant officiating with full military honors by the U.S. Navy, the Warrensburg American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Rusty was born Oct. 31, 1931, in Topeka, Kansas, the son of Roscoe Grant and Ina (Maude) Enzor Sr.

He and Loretta Pike were married on July 19, 1971, in Miami, Oklahoma. She survives at the home.

Rusty attended school in Topeka where he was the Golden Glove Champion at age 16. At 17, he joined the U.S. Navy and served on the USS Frank Knox in Japan and Korea until 1954. He resided in Atchison, Kansas, before he and Loretta and family moved to Warrensburg. Rusty was employed at CMSU and worked on the CMSU football chain gang for 32 years. In 2012, he was inducted into the University of Central Missouri Athletic Hall of Fame. After retirement, he was usually seen at the Pertle Springs golf course.

Rusty was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed coaching baseball, softball and track. His favorite hobbies were golf, bowling, horseshoe pitching, woodworking and watching sports on TV.

Rusty is survived by his wife, Loretta, of the home; a son, Rick Lynn Enzor, of Anchorage, Alaska; a daughter, Kathy Burke, of Denver, Colorado; two stepdaughters, Cynthia Larrison and Patty Denney and husband, Ben, all of Warrensburg; a stepson, Jeffrey Enzor, and wife, Terrie, of Madison, Missouri; and 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the UCM Foundation for athletics and can be left in care of the funeral home.
