Ramona Grace Seeley

Ramona Grace Seeley, 95 of Leeton, Missouri died Thursday, April 5, at Research Medical Center in Kansas City.

Memorial Service will be 3 p.m. Saturday, April 21, at Community of Christ in Warrensburg.

Ramona was born Dec. 23, 1922 at Savanna, Illinois, the daughter of Bertrand E. and Evanelia M.(Moser) Sartwell. She graduated from Savanna High School. Following graduation, she was a secrtary for Midway Oil Co. in Moline, Illinois.

Ramona was united in marriage to Robert M. Seeley March 12, 1945 at Rock Island, Illinois. The couple moved to San Francisco, California, where she was an auditor with Red Cross. Next, the couple relocated to Los Angeles, where Ramona was a stay-at-home mom.

In 1948, the couple returned to Savanna for one year, prior to moving to Kansas City. Next, they moved to Iowa City where Ramona earned a B.S in Education from University of Iowa in 1970. The couple eventually retired to Kansas City, where Ramona taught special education in grade school for several years.

Her beloved husband Robert preceded her in death in 1987. She soon joined the Peace Corp, serving until 1993. For the past 25 years, Ramona had resided southeast of Leeton, Missouri.

Survivors include two daughters: Debra Seeley of Iowa City, Iowa, and Ramona (Everett) Dale of Norman, Oklahoma; three sons: James (Linda) Seeley of Austin, Texas; Gerald (Jennie) Seeley of Leeton, and John (Beverly) Seeley of Independence, Missouri; 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Ramona was preceded in death by her sister: Ruth Sharrar and four brothers: Ammon, Homer, Gerald and Stanley Sartwell.
