Raymond Vaughn

Raymond A. Vaughn, 84, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, died Thursday, March 24, at Johnson County Care Center.

The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until service time Saturday, April 9, at Grover Park Baptist Church. Memorial services are scheduled for 2 p.m. at the church with Chaplain John Phillips officiating.

He was born Aug. 21, 1931, in Kansas City, Kansas, the son of Bige and Carrie (Childers) Vaughn. He was one of 10 children.

On May 18, 1963, he and Patricia Stapp were united in marriage.

Raymond worked many jobs throughout his life. Right out of high school, he worked as an apprentice for GMN&O Railroad. He worked as a farmer and as a seafood store owner. He worked for Rock Island Railroad for more than 20 years as a railcar repair manager.

Raymond enjoyed pheasant and quail hunting, fishing, raising horses and pigs, and gardening.

Raymond is survived by two sons, Randy Vaughn and wife, Brenda, of Warrensburg, and Rudy Vaughn and wife, Sharon, of Auxvasse, Missouri; and a daughter, Marilyn King, of Springfield, Missouri.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Rene Vaughn; and a daughter, Sherrie Inskeep.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Heart Association and can be left in the care of Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home.
