Roger Wayne Hayes, 64, of Knob Noster, Missouri, died Friday, May 20, at Warrensburg Manor.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, May 26, at Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home in Warrensburg. Interment will follow in Knob Noster Cemetery with full military honors. Pallbearers will be Dennis Peery, Kristen Burroughs, Nelson Burgen, Paul Averbeck, and Rodney and Alan Norman.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home.
Roger was born May 14, 1952, in St. Louis, the son of Ernest Esco and Dorothy (Boland) Hayes.
He and Deborah Peery were united in marriage on Aug. 26, 1975, in Miami, Oklahoma.
Roger graduated from Dupo, Illinois, High School before joining the U.S. Air Force. After eight years of service working with missiles, he was discharged as a sergeant. He later worked as a truck driver for Allied Waste in Warrensburg for more than eight years.
He was a member of AmVets Post 143 in Knob Noster.
Roger is survived by a daughter, Nichole Averbeck and husband, Randy, of Knob Noster; two sisters, Judy Gillam, of Illinois, and Elizabeth Ann Price and husband, John, of Belleville, Illinois; five grandchildren, Roger Hayes II, of Clinton; and Kriten Burroughs, Angela Averbeck, and Paul Edward Averbeck, all of Knob Noster; and Deborah Jean Averbeck, of Kansas City, Missouri; one great-granddaughter, Clara Hayes, of Clinton; and a brother-in-law, Richard Dennis Peery and wife, Jill, of Knob Noster.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Deborah; a brother, Robert C. Boland; a sister, Helen L. Boland; his father-in-law, Herman Peery; and his mother-in-law, Eula Peery.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Roger Wayne Hayes Memorial Fund with checks made payable to Nichole Averbeck and can be left in care of the funeral home.
