Rogers Block, 84, of Centerview, Missouri, died Tuesday, March 29, at his home.
The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. until service time Tuesday, April 5, at the Second Baptist Church of Independence, Missouri.Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. at the church with Reverend Samuel Nero officiating. Interment will follow at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville with full military honors.
He was born June 1, 1931, in Ogden, Arkansas, the son of Andy and Odessa (Parker) Block.
On Feb. 14, 1972, he and Ruth Pierson were married in Kansas City, Missouri. She survives at the home.
Rogers served in the U.S. Army and was a Korean veteran serving from 1950 to 1953. He was the owner and operator of his own asphalt business.
Rogers is survived by his wife, Ruth Block, of the home; a step-daughter, Gloria Brown, of Sandy Springs, Georgia; four brothers, Henry Block and wife, Ethel, of Newburn, North Carolina, Otis Block of Hope, Arkansas, Felton Block of Melvin, Arkansas, and Andy Block Jr. of St. Paul, Minnesota; and two sisters, Ethel Glover of Texarkana, Arkansas, and Juanita Vaughn of St. Paul, Minnesota.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Eugene and Edward Block; and seven sisters, Shirley, Ruth, Odessa, and Glenmarine Block, Sarah Hunter, Susanna Jones, and Alelia McAfee.
