Sharon White, 70, of Warrensburg, died Friday, May 25, at her home.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 2, at Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Repast dinner will be served at the Warrensburg Community Center, 445 E Gay Street Room B&C following the interment.
She was born June 7, 1947, in Warrensburg. She was the youngest child of three born to Sterling and Annie Mae White. Her parents, as well as one brother, Joseph White, preceded her in death.
She received her education at Warrensburg High School. She accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Warren Street United Methodist Church. She was currently a member of Mount Zion Apostolic Temple.
Sharon loved to read and enjoyed being outdoors. In her earlier years, she loved being active playing softball and during most summers she could be found fishing at an area lake or pond. She loved being surrounded by family and friends and could often be found hosting a holiday feast, or cooking and having you over, just because.
Singing was her gift, and she used her gift to sing for the Lord every chance she got. She was very active in her community and church, volunteering wherever there was a need. Whether that be serving in the kitchen, or a solo at one of the area churches, she happily and readily worked for the Lord.
Sharon also facilitated the Black History Program in Warrensburg for several years. She was always very proud of the history of African Americans in our nation and especially in our local area of Warrensburg.
Sharon is survived by three children, Gregory White of Fayetteville, North Carolina; Michelle Nash of Sedalia, Missouri; and Barbara White of Overland Park, Kansas; four grandchildren, Reshia Porter (Danniel); Dazha White; Sharmaine Nash; Albert Nash; one brother, Sterling White, Jr.; one niece, Gretchen Lowry (Robert); one Nephew, Phillip White; Micah Cotton (great nephew); Anjanette Long (cousin); Jaleea Johnson (cousin); Chloe Johnson (niece in love); Shakeera Johnson (great niece in love); and a number of other relatives and friends and her beloved cat, Cookie.
