Stephen Randall Ardis, 62, of Warrensburg, died Monday, April 7, at his home.

Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, April 10, at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, Mo., with Chaplain Eric Kurz officiating and full military honors provided by Whiteman Air Force Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 9, at Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home in Warrensburg, Mo.

He was born Sept. 5, 1951, in Cortland, N.Y., the son of Clarence and Jeanette (Congdon) Ardis.

He was united in marriage to Stephanie Hogan on Dec. 29, 1970, in Sumter, S.C.

Stephen was a graduate of Furman Sumter High School in Sumter, class of 1970. After high school, he worked at the Brewer-Tishner Steel Mill in Cortland, N.Y. In November 1975, Stephen joined the U.S. Air Force, serving in Desert Storm, and retired in 2000 with the rank of master sergeant. After his military service, he worked at Mountain Home Air Force Base in Idaho as a unit deployment manager of the 366 Operation Group.

Stephen is survived by his wife, Stephanie; two daughters, Rebecca Ardis of Minot, N.D.; and Patricia Coleman and husband, Michael, of Warrensburg; one son, Ryan Ardis of Warrensburg; two brothers, Alan Ardis of Tampa, Fla.; and Michael Ardis of Connecticut; one sister, Cheryl Morse of Sumter; four grandchildren, Josephine Reynolds of Warrensburg, Xavier Fernanadez of Minot, Mackenzie Coleman of Warrensburg, and Xandria Bort of Minot.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, William Clay Ardis.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society and can be left in care of the funeral home.
