(FULTON, Mo., AP) — Ameren Missouri and Westinghouse still want to build a first-of-its kind mini nuclear reactor next to Ameren’s mid-Missouri plant in Callaway County. But a key piece of funding has yet to be approved.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch (http://bit.ly/VHBGxV ) reports that officials are still awaiting word on whether the project will get at least a share of a $452 million federal grant to advance commercialization of next-generation nuclear technology.
The Department of Energy was supposed to announce who would share the grant money a month ago. A spokeswoman says applications are still under review. She didn’t say when a decision would be made.
