The American Democracy Project and Students for Political Action will be hosting a watch party of the U.S. Senate Debate between Democratic candidate Claire McCaskill and Republican candidate Josh Hawley.
The watch party will be at 6:45 p.m. Thursday in the Student Recreation and Wellness Center atrium.
Mazzio’s pizza, snacks and refreshments will be provided.
Robynn Kuhlmann, associate professor of political science and faculty advisor for Students for Political Action, said debates are an important part of the political process.
“Political debates are a prominent part of the democratic process that allows ordinary citizens to watch, process, and delineate policy proposals from candidates,” she said. “It is important that citizens have clear choices during elections and that they understand those choices before making the decision to vote or cast opinions on policy proposals and candidates.”
