Tigers drop 2 games to Lawrence Free State

(LAWRENCE, Kan.) – The Warrensburg Tigers wound up on the wrong side of an 11-1 score in game one of a doubleheader Monday at Lawrence Free State. Brett Marr went 1-2 and scored one run. He tripled in the fourth inning. The Tigers scored their only run of the day during the fourth inning on a sacrifice by Nico Codemo.

In game two, Marr did his best to will the Tigers to win with a two-hit game, but the Tigers dropped it 13-5. They jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first. A triple by Marr, scoring Chase Leavy started the inning off. More runs followed for the Tigers when Marr scored on a sacrifice fly by Nico Codemo. The Tigers scored three runs in the top of the fifth to cut their deficit to five. A pair of RBI singles by Marr and Matt Mayden set off the Tigers rally.

The Tigers are now 2-2. They will be back in action at 4:30 p.m. Monday when they host the O’Hara Celtics at West Park in Warrensburg.
