(WARRENSBURG, Mo., digitalBURG) — The University of Central Missouri recently finished cleaning up from the flooding that occurred on April 3.
Buildings that flooded were the University Store, the office of Military and Veteran Services, the food court area of the Elliott Student Union, the lower level of Ward Edwards, the new locker area of the Walton Stadium, the Multipurpose Building, Wood, Grinstead and Utt Music buildings, the Student Recreation and Wellness Center, and Selmo Park (the president’s home https://twitter.com/UCMAmbrose/status/452285990883692546).
Jeff Murphy, assistant director of media relations, said there was about 9 inches of water outside the Union that entered in through the east side of the building. At one point, the water within the Union was approximately 3 inches deep.
Murphy said the university’s insurance agent will be on campus this week to assess the damages.
Facilities and book store employees worked all through Thursday, Friday and into Saturday to clean up the water within the buildings around campus.
Charles Rutt, University Store director, said many employees of the store and facilities worked around the clock to clean up. Rutt said some merchandise was damaged and had to be discarded.
