WMMC fashion show group together lost 1,096 pounds

The group of 2018 Bariatric Fashion Show participants have lost a combined 1,096 pounds through the weight loss program.

Western Missouri Medical Center’s bariatric surgery program hosted its second annual Bariatric Fashion Show on March 20. The group participants have lost a combined 1,096 pounds through the weight loss program.

This event highlighted the transformation of 12 patients who have undergone surgical weight loss at Surgical Services of Warrensburg.

Participants in the fashion show wore the latest fashions from Goody’s and CATO.

“This annual event is a fun way for our patients’ family and friends, as well as our bariatric program staff, to celebrate their journey to a healthier lifestyle,” said Robert Kenney, DO, Bariatric Surgeon. “We enjoy getting to acknowledge their successes and dedication in a public way.”

Amira Ghazali, MD, acted as the master of ceremonies for the event, describing each participant’s journey. Dr. Kenney handed out flowers to each participant and congratulated them on their success.

WMMC recently announced that the bariatric program received the Comprehensive Center accreditation through the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program, an initiative of the American College of Surgeons and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, according to a press release.
