(Warrensburg, Mo.) – Western Missouri Medical Center recently announced that the new hospitalist program will begin July 1 at WMMC in partnership with Saint Luke’s Physicians Specialists.
The inpatient team will include physicians Bruce Owens, DO; Anthony Fangman, MD; and Gina Lawson, DO, according to a news release.
“We’re thrilled to partner with Saint Luke’s to offer a hospitalist program that is comprised of internal medicine physicians that specialize in hospital-based inpatient care,” said Susan M. Stiles, interim president/CEO and vice president of Patient Care Services/CNO. “Our hospitalists, along with the patient’s primary care provider and other specialists involved in treatment, will work together as a team to provide advanced care, right here at WMMC.”
Owens will serve as the primary hospitalist and will reside in the Warrensburg area. He earned a Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine at University of Health Sciences in Kansas City. He completed an Internal Medicine Residency at Saint Luke’s Hospital and the University of Missouri, Kansas City.
Owens has been in private practice in Texas and has worked as a hospitalist for Saint Luke’s Hospital. He is a diplomat of the American Board of Internal Medicine and the National Board of Osteopathic Medicine. He has served as a professor at the Eastern New Mexico University and has been the director of Internal Medicine at Covenant Medical Group – Lubbock Clinics. Additionally, Owens was an Internal Medicine consultant for the Texas Tech Football Team.
Fangman earned a medical degree at the University of Kansas School of Medicine in Kansas City, Kan., and completed an internal medicine residency at the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Peoria, Ill. Fangman is the medical director of Saint Luke’s Physicians Specialists. He is also a diplomat of the American Board of Internal Medicine.
Lawson earned a Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine at the University of Health Sciences in Kansas City, Mo., and completed an internal medicine residency at the University of Missouri in Kansas City. Lawson is the medical director of the Saint Luke’s Patient Transfer Team and is a Saint Luke’s Physician Specialists hospitalist. Lawson is a diplomat of the American Board of Internal Medicine.
