USTFCCCA Release | Top-25 | TFRRS Top Marks
(NEW ORLEANS) – Central Missouri women’s track and field team finds themselves back in familiar territory in this week’s USTFCCCA (United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association) poll. The indoor champion Jennies hold the top spot in the latest outdoor rankings.
The Jennies, who won their first ever National Championship earlier in the month, were the No. 1 ranked team for three straight weeks during the indoor season. This is their first week at No. 1 in the outdoor rankings after checking in at No. 15 last week.
The Jennies totaled 142.62 points, roughly 14 points higher than second place Azusa Pacific. Some of those points can be attributed to Heavin Warner and Madison Smith. Warner is in the top-five in the nation in three throwing events: hammer throw, discus and shot put. She is the defending national champion in the hammer throw and currently holds the best mark of the 2015 season.
Smith competed two weeks ago at the Angelo State Multi Meet where she set the school record for the outdoor high jump and a personal-best in the heptathlon. Her marks in both events are the best in the nation.
USTFCCCA Division II poll compiles it’s weekly rankings based soley on marks from the current 2015 season.
Central Missouri gets back on the track this weekend, April 4 at the Emporia Relays hosted by Emporia State beginning at 10:30 a.m.
