Mules golf coach named coach of the year

Central Missouri head men’s golf coach Tim Poe was named the Division II Central Region Coach of the Year as announced on Monday morning by the Golf Coaches Association of America in conjunction with Golf Pride Grips, according to a news release.

Poe led the Mules to their second straight MIAA regular season championship and the sixth in the last seven seasons. The Mules also captured their second straight MIAA Tournament crown and the fifth in the last six years.

The Mules went on to finish in a tie for third in the stroke play portion of the NCAA-II National Championships with Sam Migdal capturing the first individual national championship in program history. The Mules made it to the semifinals of the match play portion of the championship, where they were defeated by eventual national champion Nova Southeastern.

Five Mules were named to the All-MIAA team this season with Travis Mays earning his second consecutive conference player of the year award. Three players were named to the PING Division II All-Central Region Team and six players earned MIAA Academic Honor Roll distinction.
