Carrol Lewis Hunt

Carrol Lewis Hunt, Sr., age 87, owner and operator of Hunt & Sons Truck Line in Warrensburg, Missouri, died Tuesday, Aug. 29, at the Missouri Veterans Home.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 1, at Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home with Brother Charles Brant officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Hill Cemetery with full military honors. Pallbearers will be Nathan Hunt, Bobby Canfield, Kelley Fletcher, Zach Milton, Jake Robertson, and Chris Hunt. The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home.

He was born on April 4, 1930, in Gunn City, Missouri, the son of Lewis R. and Julia Lorene (Graham) Hunt. In October of 1957, he and Martha Frost were united in marriage in Independence, Missouri. They had two sons and were married for 35 years. He later met Liddie Milton, whom he enjoyed 30 years with until her passing.

Carrol served in the Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. He and his father built Hunt & Sons Truck Line. The company was in business for more than 75 years. Carroll was a member of the Holden Masonic Lodge 262 for 66 years eventually becoming a Shriner. He was a longstanding member of the Warrensburg Elks Lodge 673 and a lifetime member of the Warrensburg VFW Post 2513.

Carrol is survived by two sons; Carrol Lewis Hunt, Jr., and Richard Hunt and wife Kristi of Independence, Missouri; six step children, James Milton and wife Lauren of Warrensburg, Maurice Milton and wife Belinda of Warrensburg, Rene Grainger and husband, Byron of Centerview, Missouri, Ambrose Milton and companion Miriah Thompson of Warrensburg, Earl Feagans of Warrensburg, and Michelle Feagans of Warrensburg; a brother, Herbert Lee Hunt of Raytown, Missouri; a sister, Eileen Staton of Georgetown, Texas; 12 grandchildren, Nathan, Bobby, Amanda, Emily, Bailie, Emilie, Jake, Zach, Kayla, Errin, Junior, and Jade; and several great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Martha Hunt, loving companion, Liddie Milton, and a sister-in-law, Linda Hunt.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to the Shriners Hospital and can be left in care of the funeral home.
