Claude ‘Dean’ Parrott

Claude “Dean” Parrott, 80, of Warrensburg, Missouri, died Thursday, Sept. 14, at Research Medical Center in Kansas City from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Funeral Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 21 at First Baptist Church in Warrensburg with Rev. Pete Beard officiating.

Interment will follow at the Knob Noster Cemetery.

Dean was born May 19, 1937, in Sedalia, Missouri, the son of William Claude Parrott and Itylene (Gott) Parrott. He was raised on a dairy farm and graduated from Knob Noster High School. He went on to college to receive a B. S. in Industrial Arts. Dean was united in marriage to Onilea M. “Onie” Dykes on May 25, 1958, in Warrensburg. The couple made their home in Warrensburg. He taught Industrial Arts and Mathematics at Mayview, Missouri for one year. He taught at Knob Noster for the next thirty years, retiring in 1989. At the same time, Dean was also in the concrete business. Due to his teaching responsibilities, Onie took care of the day to day operations of Parrott Concrete Foundations. He would help during the summers, and after school, throughout the school year. Dean was a member of First Baptist Church in Warrensburg. He was an avid hunter, especially elk and deer. He loved spending time with the grandchildren.

Survivors include: wife, Onie; three sons, Dwight Parrott and wife, Ruth Anne of Knob Noster; Marlin Parrott and wife, Tonia of Warrensburg; and Monte Parrott and wife, Tabatha, of Warrensburg; two brothers, twin, Gene Parrott and wife, Betty of Lakewood, Colorado and Dale Parrott of Ozark, Missouri; eight grandchildren, Cody, Ethan, Emmett, Austin, McKenzie, Tim, Alexis and Tanner. He was preceded in death by a grandson in infancy, Hunter.

Pallbearers will be Cody Parrott, Ethan Parrott, Emmett Parrott, Austin Parrott, Tanner Parrott and Tim Sponseller. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bud Fly, Scott Sader, Jim Eure and Richard Novak.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Williams Funeral Chapel in Warrensburg.
