Edna Amelia Gregg, known to her friends as “Blondie,” 93, of Warrensburg, Missouri, died Sunday, Oct. 1, at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 7, at Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home with Pastor Tom Wilson officiating. Pallbearers will be Matthew Gregg, Cody Barrier, David Gregg, Jeff Bivens, Darren Adams, and Ed Deardorff.
Interment will follow in Warrensburg Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.
Edna was born April 27, 1924, in Adrian, Missouri, the daughter of Ellsworth and Sarah (Ward) Deardorff.
On Nov. 7, 1946, she married Herbert Paul Gregg and moved to Warrensburg from Bates County. During their 61 years of marriage they raised three children, Carl Gregg, Joanne Wartenbee, and Paul Gregg. Edna worked at Town and Country Shoe factory for 15 years. After the family moved to Harrisonville, Edna worked with her husband to run Gregg’s Wheel Alignment. Upon retirement Herb and Edna returned to Warrensburg.
Edna loved her friends and family and was happiest when she made sure no one left her house hungry. In her later years, Edna’s favorite pastime was cross stitching over 150 quilts and sharing them with friends and family.
Edna is survived by her son, Paul Gregg and wife, Nancy, of Warrensburg; her daughter, Joanne Wartenbee of Harrisonville; daughter-in-law Linda Gregg, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; four grandchildren, Jennifer (Jeff) Bivens, David (Rebecca) Gregg, Matthew (Brenda) Gregg, and Erin (Cody) Barrier; and six great grandchildren, Clayton Bivens, Lauren Gregg, Addison Gaff, Nathan Gregg, Brandon Gregg, and Sam Barrier.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the grandchildren’s education fund with checks made payable to Nancy Gregg.
