The Crest Ridge High School varsity girls volleyball team opened their season with a strong performance against Smithton on Wednesday. The Cougars triumphed in straight sets to go 25-9, 25-17 for the win.
Crest Ridge’s Liley Hunter led the team with 4 kills and 5 solo blocks. Kaylee Schmidt contributed 2 kills and 3 digs. Heather Delana served up 4 aces.
Head Coach Jennifer English was pleased with the team’s performance.
“The girls were very excited about the game and did a great job of playing together as a team. We were very consistent with our serves, and the front row was very aggressive at the net – resulting in 7 blocks and 8 kills.”
The junior varsity Cougars also handled Smithton in a 25-14, 25-12 victory.
The Cougars travel to will face Sacred Heart tonight at 5:30 p.m.
