Mid-Missouri Artists, Incorporated 38th annual Spring Fine Arts Show will be open Saturday, May 5, 1-4 p.m. and Sunday, May 6, 12:30-4 p.m. in the ABC Building, in Grover Park, Warrensburg.
The entry deadline is April 26, however late entries will be accepted during check in with an additional $5 fee.
The Spring Fine Arts Show is free to the public.
It will include works by numerous amateur and professional artists and photographers in a variety of mediums.
Many pieces of art will available for sale.
Music will be provided Saturday afternoon by the Recorder Consort and Sunday afternoon by the New Century Dulcimer Ensemble.
The Featured Artist for the 38th show is Lois King, Sedalia, a long-time MMA member. She is a native of Iowa and received a BA from the State University of Iowa with a major in art. King usually works in watercolor in an impressionistic style. Her subject matter varies. She is equally at ease painting animals, figures, landscapes or aquatic scenes. She frequently paints flowers, both realistically and stylized. Her usual mediums are watercolor or acrylic on paper. Her acrylic paintings are a combination of a monoprint technique, in several layers, on oriental paper. She considers herself an experimental artist.
King will be present both afternoons of the show to visit with persons viewing the show and will be displaying some of her art.
The show will be judged by Bonnie Shelton, a native Missourian. Growing up in a rural area has had a great influence in her art. She has lived outside of the United States for number of years that also made her become most serious about her art. She has been teaching art since the 1970s. In 2004 she decided to focus on teaching drawing, seeing a need for learning to draw correctly that changed her course in teaching art. She developed a program she now uses to teach others how to see and enjoy the pleasures of drawing.
Mid-Missouri Artists, Inc. is a non-profit, tax-exempt arts organization with members from 12 counties.
