Old Drum Open Mic

September 3, 2015 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

The Old Drum Open Mic series celebrates three years of hosting poets, musicians, songwriters and other performers with another live session Thursday, Sept. 3. The event is open to the public and runs from 6-8 p.m. in the back room of Old Drum Gallery at the corner of Holden and West Culton streets in downtown Warrensburg.

The monthly performance series provides a platform for creative talent to present songs, stories, musical pieces, poems, missives, memoirs or comedy routines.

Presentation slots are generally limited to 15 minutes unless time remains after other presenters have finished. Time slots can be scheduled by sending messages through Old Drum Open Mic’s Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/pages/Old-Drum-Open-Mic/446574305430560.

The upcoming open mic will feature Sedalia writer Debbie Noland, who has re-imagined “Itsy Bitsy Spider” as written by Robert Frost, Elizabeth Barrett Browning, Dylan Thomas and Lewis Carroll. Warrensburg singer Phil Wagner will share songs from his favorite tunes collection, including “Hooked on Music.” Scott Umphrey will read from his personal memoirs. Mark Pearce will read the poems “Cheesy,” “Cerebral Cortex” and “Discarded Smile,” and Linda Bales will present original songs, including “Fly in my Dreams.”
