“Warrensburg’s Musical Treasury- an introduction and preview” will take place Thursday, March 8, 7  p.m. at Trail’s Regional Library in Warrensburg.

Mia Hynes, president of Warrensburg Friends of Music, will lead the discussion, joined by Samantha Koch of Quimby Organs, Peggy Forstad of Warrensburg Community Chorus and the Clan O’Martin Lutheran Irish Band, in sharing the backgrounds and accomplishments of musicians and groups that comprise our musical heritage. Patrick Larkin, director of the Warrensburg Recorder Consort, will also lead the Recorder Consort in an up-close performance during the program.

Friends of Music will host its Benefit Gala at the First United Methodist Church in Warrensburg on the following Sunday afternoon, March 11, where over 100 people will join in the program “Warrensburg Sings!”

Future programs include presentations on edible bugs in your backyard, The Halen Brothers (Eric and David) in Concert, and an overview of famous and notorious characters from Johnson County Missouri history.

The Lifelong Learning series is sponsored by UCM’s Office of Extended Studies, in conjunction with the UCM Emeriti and Alumni Associations. This particular program is also co-sponsored by Care Connection for Aging Services.
