Hywanah “Hy” Robinson, 90, died March 10.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 20, at Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home.

Hy was born on Feb. 3, 1927 at Paul’s Valley, Oklahoma.  She was an enrolled member of the Choctaw Tribe of Oklahoma and will be remembered for her lifelong interest in Native American art, jewelry and culture. She was an advocate for the humane care of all animals and served as a docent at the Kansas City Zoo. Hy loved music and was a talented vocalist. She was a member of the Warrensburg Community Chorus beginning in 1973. One of her friends reports that one of Hy’s favorite Community Chorus songs was “Little Old Lady in Tennis Shoes.” She was the little old lady for several of the performances and played it to the hilt in her bright pink tennis shoes. During the late 1960s, she studied music at CMSU and sang with the AAUW Chorus. She was an avid golfer beginning in the 1950s and while attending CMSU was a member of the CMSU Ladies Golf Team.  She was a founding member of Warrensburg WD 40s women’s group that began in 1995. Hy will always be remembered best for her easy and beautiful smile.

Hy was preceded in death by husband Robert D. Robinson; grandson Robert Ehren Bradman; parents Guy Thelma Beale and Mildred Norma Holmes.

She was survived by daughter Lynn Bradman; son Blaine Robinson (Annette); grandchildren, Elizabeth Meyer, Matthew Robinson and Tyler Robinson; great-grandchildren Thomas Meyer and James Meyer.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Warrensburg Animal Shelter and can be left in care of the funeral home.
