Kellin Loch named MIAA Track Athlete of the Week

(KANSAS CITY, Mo.) – After setting a new stadium record Sunday, freshman Kellin Loch was named the MIAA’s Student-Athlete of the Week in Men’s Track.

Loch won the 800-meter run at the UCM Mule Relays last weekend, earning a provisional qualifying mark of 1:50.16, and broke the 11-year Walton Stadium record in the event.

A native of Warrensburg, Loch narrowly missed the automatic qualifying time by just 0.12 seconds. Currently, the freshman owns the top time in the 800-meters in the MIAA, and ranks sixth in the event in NCAA Division II. Loch was the MIAA champion in the 800-meters during the indoor season, winning the title last month.

The Player of the Week award is the first in Loch’s career in either indoor or outdoor track, and the second for a Mule this season.
