L. Dean Farmer

L. Dean Farmer, 82, of Warrensburg, formerly of Windsor, died Saturday,
October 14.

Dean was born May 26, 1935, the son of Wilbur & Penelope Elma (Zordel) Farmer in
Ransom, Kansas.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 18, at 11 a.m. at Sweeney-Phillips and Holdren Funeral Home in Warrensburg, with Chaplain John Phillips officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Oct.17 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

He was united in marriage to Charlene Kiser on June 13, 1955. She preceded him in death in Dec. of 1983. On June 23, 1986, he and Peggy Beard were married in Warrensburg. She preceded him on April 6, 2015.

Dean was, among other things, a good son, a faithful and adoring husband, loving father, amazing grandfather, terrific uncle and a loyal friend. He will be missed. He loved his family, his little red truck, and “his” lap dogs, Tank and Penny. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and working outside. He liked to play cards and sometimes made up his own rules. He was an honest, hardworking, giving man of integrity who believed if you treated people right they would do the same for you. His handshake was his bond.

Dean is survived by five daughters, Cindy (Joe) Verebelyi of Sedona, Arizona, Janet (Vic) Eiskina of Warrensburg, Connie (Mike) Martin of Harrisonville, Missouri, Mary (Randy) Skidmore of Slater, Missouri and Kelly (J.R.) Sutton of Stillwell, Kansas. He is also survived by one sister, Roselma Farmer of Ransom, Kansas; a brother, David (Libby) Farmer of Huntsville, Alabama; and two sisters-in- law, Connie (Dave) Wray, and Jane (Wayne) Wilkens of Warrensburg. Also surviving are several grandchildren and great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Marilyn Mollenkamp, and a grandson, Matthew John Eiskina.

Pallbearers will be Daniel Eiskina, Tim Farmer, Joe Sutton, Alex Martin, Cole Martin, and Chris Berry. Interment will take place at Greer Cemetery in Warrensburg, following services.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Children’s Mercy Hospital or St. Jude’s
Research and can be left in care of the funeral home.
