Maxine F. Allgood, 83, of Holden, Missouri, died Tuesday, Aug. 15, at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri.
Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, at Williams Funeral Chapel in Holden with Rev. Charles Brant officiating. Interment will follow at the Centerview Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be left to the family.
Pallbearers will be Craig Allgood, Jake Allgood, Tim Kirchhoff, Clifford Yearout, Paden Wilcox, Bart McKeown and Rob Bruns. Honorary Pallbearers will be Sam Raber, Tom Rymer, Steve McKenna, Worley Eagleson, W. B. Fitzgeral and Walt Borer.
Maxine was born Dec. 9, 1933, in Hadzel, Missouri. She graduated from Holden High School. Shortly after, she attended cosmetology school and subsequently owned and operated her own beauty salon for a few years. For the majority of her life, Maxine was a farm wife and mother, though, in later years, she worked at Holden Embroidery for nearly 10 years. She was a member of First Christian Church and Rainbow Girls. She loved fishing, especially in Canada, horseback riding, sewing, knitting and also, tending to her huge vegetable garden.
Survivors include her daughter, Edie Allgood-Phelps; son, Russ Allgood, and his wife, Karen; and daughter-in-law, Kim Allgood, all of Holden; stepsister, Elizabeth Campbell of Decatur, Illinois; five grandchildren, Craig Allgood, Jake Allgood, Lauren Kirchhoff, Diana Yearout and Jamie Wilcox; and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother and stepfather, Anne Nichols Shaw and Howard Shaw; son, Ed Allgood; and stepbrother, Kenneth Shaw.
