Mules Golf tied for fourth heading into final round of NCAA Championships

(CONOVER, N.C.) — The Mules golf team shot a second round team score of two-over par 286 on Tuesday afternoon at Rock Barn Golf & Spa and held steady in a tie for fourth after the second of three rounds at the NCAA Championships.

Sam Migdal finished with an even par 71 in the second round to remain in a tie for the individual lead at five under par. He is tied with Ryan Gendron of St. Leo, who shot a four-under par 67 on Tuesday to get to five-under for the tournament.

Alex Springer followed up his opening round of 70 with a one-over par 72 on Tuesday and is tied for 14th place at even par. Travis Mays also shot a one-over 72 in round two and he is tied for 61st at seven-over par.

Cy Moritz is two shots back at nine-over par after carding a second round 77, while Teddy Jones shot even par in the second round and is tied for 74th place at 10-over par.

The Mules are tied for fourth with Lynn, one shot ahead of sixth-place Simon Fraser. South Carolina-Aiken leads the field with a two-round score of one-under par. Thirteen shots separate the second through ninth place teams heading in to Wednesday’s final round of qualifying. The top eight teams will be seeded by place for the match play portion of the championships, which will determine the team national champion.

The Mules are set to begin final round play at noon on Wednesday. They are paired with Lynn and Simon Fraser.
