(DENVER, Colo.) — The Mules golf team shot the second lowest round on Thursday, five-under par, to finish at seven-over par at the NCAA Championships and in 11th place overall. The Mules missed finishing in the top eight by five shots, the top eight qualify for the match play portion of the championships.
The Mules shot 283 in the final round to finish with a 54-hole total of 871. St. Leo was in first with a 54-hole total of 838, 26-under par.
Alex Springer was the highest placing Mule in a tie for 23rd at one-under par after shooting a final round 72. Cole Dillon also shot an even part 72 in the final round and finished at one-over par for the tournament, tied for 38th.
Shayne Allan shot a final round 68, four-under par, to finish at plus-two for the championship and tied for 41. Travis Mays finished in a tie for 57th after a final round 71 left him at five-over par for the tournament. Teddy Jones tied for 97 at 15-over par for the championships, firing a 75 on Thursday.
Hugo Bernard of St. Leo won the individual national championship with a 54-hole record of 13-under par.
